# Emacs ### Entered on Treo 90 ### Soundtrack: Motorhead - 1979 boxset ### 20191226 Not a lot going on the last week or so. A chill holliday season. I made a huge change insofar as my personal workflow goes. I have switched from vim which I have used since 1998, to Doom Emacs. Vimwiki to org mode. I had posted on mastodon that I was experiencing a 7 second loadup time opening Doom Emacs and my org file. I have since added emacs daemon to my xinitrc, and started using emacsclient. This opens instantly. The difference, as far as I can tell is that emacsclient is a TUI versus the normal emacs GUI. I'll take the performance boost, thank you very much. I have also written a quick sed + awk script that converts my remind file to org. So my agenda view shows my remind calendar. I made this script simple and unidirectional so the calendar lives in the remind file and the org version will be lost on update. This was what I was looking for. I haven't done much exploring in emacs besides just loving org mode. I will eventually get around to it. Other than that, not much going on for the rest of 2019. Next week starts the third decade of living in Wyoming. How time flies!
