# Usenet on the go and other schtuff *Entered: in vim on Samsung Galaxy S21* | *Date: 20220408* ## USENET Lives! Inspired by [this post][1] on NNTP usage, I downloaded [this android app][2] on my phone and much to my amazement, my [eternal-september][3] account still works! I subscribed to some of my old favorite groups and did some reading in the airport. Reminded me of reading usenet from my Handspring Treo 90 in the early 2000s, due to form factor, and a bit of reading groups in the very early 1990s. ## Mobile Madness! On the phone I am typing this on, I have apps for [surfing gopher][4], [surfing gemini][5], and [chatting on IRC][6] in addition to the afore mentioned NNTP client. For everything elae there of course is [termux][7]. That all of these clients exist for android is pretty damned rad. That I can touch an icon and launch into a saved site without having to type with my thumbs is very satisfactory to me while I travel.
