Well, you see, each newsreader has a record file where it saves the changes you made to the news
system by reading it. For 'nn' it is called ".newsrc" (for rn also, don't know about other).

Below is an example of a part of this file (ofcourse ascii art)

alt.binaries.pictures.ascii: 1-273
alt.binaries.pictures.d! 1-624

A ":" after the group is 'subscribed' and a "!" is 'unsubscribed' to a group. The numbers give the
article numbers that have been read.

If you want to re-read the alt.--.ascii group again, just edit your .newsrc file and throw away
the 1-273. If you want to (re-)subscribe to a group, change the "!" into ":" and V.V. if you want
to unsubscribe it

So no UI or whatever, just see all the possible groups in the editor.
