Since you're probably putting all this into a file, most editors allow you to put in a control character by entering its ASCII code. For the VAX, if you're using the EDT editor (or EVE -- a _GOOD_ editor -- with the SET KEYPAD EDT enabled, I don't know how to use the default EVE keypad off hand) try: 27 Where: is the PF1 (gold) dey on the keypad and is the 3 key ON THE KEYPAD Since 27 is the ASCII code for this should do it.
