I already said I don't know UNIX, so I'm requesting help! To Okay, #1: a finger file thingy is called a "plan" and is sometimes written ".plan" because that is the filename. #2: it's bad to include color control codes (what you want someone to replace [yellow] with) in a .plan because there are systems on the internet that cannot handle those codes. i.e., the codes will fuck the machines up or at least make them burp. So, I know it is tempting, but don't color your plan file. If you ever send colored or animated text over the internet, encode it first. It takes a little effort and it's not as neat but it's the polite thing to do. -- Peter Abeln pra@umr.edu (573) 341-8653 homepage at the usual address: http://www.umr.edu/~pra E9 BD 9E C1 81 0A 02 D7 0F 87 9F C1 4E EA 92 CF
