I watched it because I love how it looks and how it sounds. In the island scenes the sound of the surf is omnipresent, and that sound I could listen to all day. It struck me tonight, however, how utterly **sad** the whole movie is. There is almost no scene, even after he is rescued, where the main character isn't faced with boundless grief and loss. From the loss of his life, right through to the loss of Wilson, to the end of the marriage of the woman in Texas, the entire movie positively wallows in suffering. Still though, watched it to the end, loved it. Tom Hanks rules.
