Facebook has built a campus in Menlo Park with housing, dining, entertainment, and more. It was finished right before COVID and remote work, I'm not sure what happened to it. From my perspective, it seems like another means of extracting more work out of employees, and building an echo chamber of like minds - which isn't necessarily a good thing. They're also targeting recent college grads, who may have been comfortable in a social/college work environment where you worked and lived in the same environment without a sense of worktime/social time. Moving from that environment to a similar corporate environment would make it difficult to create separate work and social lives or work/life balance. And, what happens if/when you're laid off? I couldn't imagine losing your job and having to look for a place to rent at the same time. That's almost as bad as getting a grace period and living in the company of people you no longer work with.
