look into how amazon survived in the 2000's.  it's pretty interesting. their
cfo warned jeff that there here bad times coming.  They sold convertable bonds to foreign investors to get a big chunk of money to weather it out.  It looked bad on paper but got them the real cash they needed.

There's a lot of misinformation out there now and from that period. bloomberg said it was done in 2000 to help expand and invest in other online companies.
It was to survive.
