There are *some*, perhaps, but not many would agree with "tons" of them.

Yeah, maybe on the 40-column toys you're talking about.  Hello.  Welcome 
to the 21st century and modern BBS'ing.  Before you try to whip out the 
"retro" card, I'm reasonably sure I've been doing this longer than you, 
and even in the early 90's quoting was the de-facto standard on any kind 
of BBS.  The people doing the non-quoting thing here lately are on modern 
BBS software and are either ignorant or stubborn to not be doing it the 
way that is generally accepted.  Your mileage may vary, but I don't care.
