Baseball has a simpler, more laid back appearance, so when there is any controversy with the team owners or players, people tend to turn away from it for awhile. It has it's ups and downs, but there is always a dediciated group of followers that love it regardless what happens. My grandparents on my father's side lived in Bayside, NY up until the 1950's and my grandfather worked for the NYPD in NYC. My grandmother's brother in law used to socialize at a club where the NY Yankees would go, and knew Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. One of my father's cousins told me their uncle bought a baseball glove for Gehrig, and he used it for awhile. My grandmother was a Cubs fan, and her sister and brother in law were die hard Yankees fans. --- þ Synchronet þ The Cave BBS - Since 1992 - cavebbs.homeip.net .
