## Acupuncture Small recreative acupuncture. by 20h ## Qualification I am a professional medical doctor with a specialisation in common and family medicine from Germany. I am a state-certified acupuncturist from the Saxonian medical association and I have an a-diploma in acupuncture. ## Intro Acupuncture is way of treating various body conditions using needles at certain positiions. #pause For the needle positions exist different models on how they interact. #pause Mostly the chinese model of energy meridians and yin/yang is used. #pause The chinese model comes from chinese doctor's experience and integrating this knowledge into their model of patients. #pause We in the back had Galen, who tried to control the whole body using gall bladder, blood etc., the liquids, until we found out about how more complex the body is. ## Intro Since we Europeans have no own separate model for the acupuncture points, we need to use the chinese model for communicating internationally and using old knowledge to help patients. #pause There is also a pure European acupuncture now. We developed a highly- sophisticared ear acupuncture. #pause Finding the anatomical background of acupuncture is a European phenomena. China is keeping here in esoteric and arrogant terms, because they see acupuncture as cultural export, not as cultural interaction between scholars. ## Acupuncture Points Acupuncture points are various crossing points of anatomical structures, like nerves, muscles, tendons or fascia. Depending on which kind of crossing point you stimulate, you create different effects: * Regulating local or central pain. * Regulating local or central sensibility. * Regulating local or central organ functions. * For example reduce muscle strain. Some proposed effects are in heavy discussion. We will use scientifically proven effects. ## Stimulating Points In acupuncture points are normally stimulated using small needles. But acupuncture points can be stimulated using other ways too, which is what I will be teaching you here. You can use your finger nail, just your finger pressure, a cat, a non-sharp tool to stimulate acupuncture points. There also other ways to stimulate points, like laser, electricity, heat etc. I brought my small electro acupuncture device with me for showcase. Of course such extended stimulations require medical professional training to know the risks. ## Point Classes Some acupuncture points are known for "wonder effects" and some have lesser direct effect. I will show you points which have proven scientific background. Those points have been first described by the Chinese and then afterwards western (German) science has proven them to work this way. ## Point Localisation Since humans grow in different sizes and different ways, the point descriptions are rough. This can be easily imagined why, by seeing how noses are in different shapes, depending on how you moved around in your mother's womb. The same physics and random events apply to nerves and muscles moving around while growing up. When you are in the described region, search for positions in the 3d meatspace, where you have higher sensitivity. Those are the points which are referred to. The points can be regions. ## Sensitiveness Some people are more sensitive to acupuncture than others. So when first trying this out, lay down and drink something before you do it. If you faint, which can only happen if you put hard pressure on it or a needle inside, you will wake up refreshed. Only if you know, you do not faint, do this while not lying down. ## LI4 hegu Location: Look at your hand, when the palm is lying down on a flat surface. Inbetween the thumb and the second finger is flesh. Grab this flash with the thumb and second finger of the opposite hand. When you press down firmly, you will realize in this flesh is a point which is more sensitive. Usage: Teeth and face pain, body pain, calming down. Anatomical background: In embryological growth, that arm side is part of the skin / muscle layer, which is connected via the Musculus trapezius to the face skin and the whole back. Treatment: Local finger pressure for some minutes reduces pain and calms you down. ## LV3 taichong Location: Inbetween your big toe and the second toe, analogical to the previous point, when you look from above onto your feet, press down close to where the bones of the big and second two divert. Usage: Calming down stress. Anatomical background: During embryological growth, our legs are like hands, just turned around by 90 degrees. The special segment inbetween first and second toe connect directly to your back and reduce tension there, thus calming you down. Treatments: You can massage it on your own or let someone massage it for you for 30 minutes. ## PE6 Neiguan Location: Put down your hand, with the palm looking upwards. In the center of the arm, where your arm begins from the palm, two thumbs-wide (use thumb from other side) closer to the main body, you will find the point. Usage: Nausea, stomach pain, calming down. Anatomical background: At the center of that side of the arm ends the skin layer, which connects to the whole front of your abdomen and thorax. Treatment: In case for example someone has nausea or is vomitting, grab this point and massage it on both side. ## M-HN 9 taiyang Location: Begin from the outer side of your eye, then move to the lateral / outer side / ear direction. There you realize some bone edge. Behind that edge is a valley. In this valley is the point. Usage: Headache, Migraine Anatomical background: At this position begins the big muscle which is located on both sides of your skull. Tensions in those muscles cause the majority of headaches. Treatment: In case of headache, massage both sides for 10 minutes. Attention: If this does not help and the headache is not going away, see other treatments or a doctor. ## DU 20 baihui Location: Make a line between the upper tips of your ear on top of your skull. In the center, on top of your skull, move the finger a bit towards your back, like 0.5cm. There is a sensitive point. Usage: Calming down, headache, relieving stress. Anatomical background: At this position the muscle ways of your back and the skull converge. You stimulate all of them. Treatment: Massage the point for 20 minutes. ## Training and Questions I am here to assist you. If someone wants to try out needle acupuncture, let me know. ## Thanks.
