Answers to christyotwisty's 5 questions for July 2023. 1. What's your favorite way to stay active? It used to be riding my bike. But I moved into the mountains and it would be both too dangerous and too hilly to ride a road bike and I don't like mountain biking. So hiking is my usual choice for an active activity. I go through phases of doing a lot of qi gong, yoga, and calisthenics (at different times). I am not in one of those phases at present, but think about it a lot. I really should force myself to get back to some form of regular physical practice like that. 2. What's the best way to stay focused and productive? Let me know when you find out, lol. I am usually good at being focused and productive when alone. I am not good at it when family/friends are around. So when I was single and living alone I got a lot done all the time. Not so much now. 3. If you could have any sport or game instantly mastered, unrelated to your current interests or abilities, which one would you choose and why? My instinct is go/baduk... because I love the game and want to be better than I am (~12kyu). However, I want to earn it. I don't think I'd take that offer: skill that you didn't work for is meaningless in many respects. It wouldn't be valued in the same way as if you had to work hard for it. 4. Share with me an interesting trivia tidbit about your favorite historical event. I do not have a favorite historical event and don't generall hold on to that sort of trivia. :( 5. Share a summer recipe. This isn't a recipe, but my favorite thing in the summer is a big pitcher of barley tea (iced). I don't know that it is particularly summery, but I love vegan sopes. Here is the recipe I use, such that it is, for the dough: http://sloum.colorfield.space/food/sopes.html We top them with refried beans and then pile them high with seranos, onions, cilantro, radishes, tomatoes, avocado, etc.
