Haha! Well, in classic ADHD fashion, I got bogged down with the Packard Bell Navigator stuff and didn't get around to configuring any games for my brother in time for Christmas, but I've got that down as my primary project the next time I have a free day. In the mean time, I lucked out and found an Etherlink 3C509B card in one of my old computers, and I transferred it into my Tandy 1000TX since I've been trying turn that into my "daily driver" for vintage computing. It doesn't work!! I can't write to the EEPROM from the 8-bit ISA bus, apparently, so I had to put it into a third card to reconfigure it. That worked fine, but it still can't connect to my router in the Tandy. I have a couple more things to try, then I'm going to ask on VCFed to see if any of the Tandy owners on there can help. In other news, I got a CZUR Aura[1] book scanner. This is a really neat doc cam that uses laser guide-lines to remove curves from book pages, allowing you to get decent scans of books without having to remove the pages from the spine. It's gonna be great for reading some of my books that are too fragile for my comfort, because with a little bit of effort I can convert the scans into a decent e-book file. With a litle bit more effort, I can give them a proper TOC and chapter sections. I'll produce a proper long-form write up of this scanner later, but for now I put some information about my experience scanning a book into an e-book in a Mastodon thread.[2] [1] https://www.czur.com/product/aura [2] https://retro.social/@68km/103484103822200563
