A 246 piston is also lighter.

MOS I had to dig, but I found Art's info on the 246 in 5000
info.
Just put a 246 Husky in one. Had to open up the piston bosses.
Also had a little concern over the difference in skirt length
(246 being shorter) but no running problems. Good idle and great
throttle response.
The 5000 has a rod that is 14.54 mm wide. The 246 piston is only
10.45mm between bosses. Had to open that area up. 246 pistons
are open sided like a 254 piston with no full skirt.
026 carb has around a 2mm bigger bore, 026 carb on the 5000.
Likes it big time.

Is this info below accurate? So I could use 50 51 55 262 etc
coils in my partners? Just asking because when I pulled one of
coils from the shelf on last project it was dead. ???

Fits: Husqvarna: 50, 51, 55, 254, 154, 257, 261, 262, 40, 45,
49, 268, 272 Jonsered: 490, 590, 2050, 2045, 2041, 2051, 2054,
2055, 670 Partner: 500, 5000, 540, Older 55cc 65cc 85cc 100cc
saws with Thyristor and Ignitron ignition coils. On some models
the spark plug wire may be too short, and you would have to swap
out with your old coil wire.

I do know that a partner 500/5000 coil will work on a Husky 257
and a Poulan Pro 505. The 505 coil wont work in the 500 unless
you lengthen the coil wire. That coil on your 505 is a partner
500 coil BTW. ;)

Being I havent seen a partner 5000H in the US and only seen a
top cover for sale once, (wish I would have bought it now). So
I made my own heated handle 5000.
No it's not right yet due to not having enough tubing on hand,
to short. So I made a temp fix to hook everything and test it
out. Works but dont no how long the fuel line will take the heat
;D.

MM, I have placed 2 orders now with Jack's since (another this
week :-[ ) and both times I forgot to add the dang heated
handle tubing's.
I just remembered this last night when for some reason heating
handle tubing popped in my mind and if I could kick my own butt
I would have.
Someday ::)
