So i had to uninstal and reinstall Mediacat. The uninstall worked but, my 2012 Mediacat just wouldn't install. I spent a week trying different methods but none worked. But today i had an idea. I went into the BIOS and set the date to 1/1/2012 and then booted up . And the installation went like a breeze Next i had to install the loader and its registry entry. After so many years i had forgotten the steps. Reg entry was simple, right click and select ok. But how to use the loader. . After several attempts i got it right. Just paste the loader in the Mediacat folder. But then came the question, how to get it to work. Finally figured that out too. Restarted the PC, set the date to today in BIOS, booted , crossed my fingers and tried Mediacat and voila! It worked! The loader automatically sets the year to 1980 and Mediacat works.exit Medicat and the year reverts to current year. #Post#: 90635-------------------------------------------------- Re: Mediacat By: ray benson Date: May 24, 2024, 7:39 am --------------------------------------------------------- Nice job. Did you back up the folder to a flash drive? #Post#: 90636-------------------------------------------------- Re: Mediacat By: DNX800 Date: May 24, 2024, 11:03 am --------------------------------------------------------- Good backups are importand. I`ve 2 external hd`s for backups. One is used with the Acronis doing safety copies of the complete pc system. The other one I do manual data copy´s by hand. Files that are created between the monthly Acronis savings are temporarily backed up on a flashdrive. Before the next Acronis run these files will be transferred into the Archieve folders and then the next Acronis run is performed. #Post#: 90640-------------------------------------------------- Re: Mediacat By: joe_indi Date: May 25, 2024, 10:00 am ---------------------------------------------------------
Nice job. Did you back up the folder to a flash drive?
I didnt back up the folder on the PC. But i do have iso images of the Mediacat dvd on two external drives, plus the 2012 dvd in a safe place and it is used only for installation in such emergencies. Similarly i have the loader folder on several drives. I still use the old ARI Electronic catalogue that was in use before the Mediacat. Great cross reference aid. ***************************************************** (DIR) Previous Page (DIR) Next Page
