       550 problems

Hey guys, iv got a homelite 550 that leaks gas into the bar oil
tank, could this be a bad seal in the tank or is there some
fancy engineering junk going on? Also how hard is it to split
the tank on this saw if I have to go in?

Leaking seal between the tank halves. I have no experience
fixing those tanks................but I can assure you that it
won't be fun. It's "glued and screwed" together...

After looking it over, I think I'd rather pay some one to fix it
       ;D any takers? Hahah!

May be better off scaring up another fuel tank assembly and
swapping that on. Of course, that one could be a leaker too.
You'd want to have some sort of assurance that the replacement
       tank was good.
What area of the country are you located in?

Im in Mississippi, I'd be willing to pay for a good tank that's
       been gone through

       Yikes!
I've seen a couple NOS 450/550 tanks on the bay over the last
few years. They weren't $200 though...

Anyone ever tried using POR15 to seal one? They offer a
       motorcycle fuel tank sealer kit.
