       homelite 240 gas leaking
By: jrdplowing Date: February 3, 2015, 10:58 am

i have a 240 and it is now going thru gas like it is leaking
somewhere,i have never been able to use above head because of
gas coming out from somewhere, but now iam investigating and
going to try and repair fuel line or check for cracks and have
taken the pull start cover off and see there is 2 holes into the
tank 1 into gas side and 1 into oil side,is there supposed to be
some kind of a check valve or how do these work to stop fluids
from coming out, also do i need to pull flywheel to get tank out
to get to the fuel line side, thanks for any help

The fuel and oil lines are supposed to fit tight through the
holes. Maybe it is the wrong size line?

when i got the side cover off i noticed 2 holes 1 to the fuel
side and 1 to the oil side, reference # 22 looks like on your
diagram and they are not there on my tank, what is part # 22, and
do i have to remove the flywheel to get the tank out.thanks,

They are duckbill check valve tank vents - they may have
       different flanges from these?

I had a homelite super 240 way back. I stole the coil out of it
one day for my poulan 2000. Coil still in there today.

chime in here with the knowledge?

installed 2- new check valves 1 for fuel side and 1 for oil side
of tank, fixed leak at end of fuel line by snipping off and
reinstall, started and runs great with no leaks, but would still
like to know how to remove tank to upgrade all lines, thanks for
       any help

Looks built like the other little homies. Remove flywheel and
then tanks come out. That is my WAG
