i have a newer chain on my C-72,has only been sharpened about 4,
5 times, but after my last sharpen it performed very poorly on
some downed pople and would not cut straight and kept wanting to
bind, was so bad i pulled out my homelite 240 and on the same
tree it just blew the 72 away, any help on this, thanks

If the chain rakers have not been lowered to be .025" below the
height of the cutters, your chain cutters will be held away from
the wood by the rakers. The chain will not cut.

i had to cut the rakers down to .025-.030, and the bar had a bad
ridge on both sides so i filled that down and it got a little
better but still wants to go crooked, i dont know why but it
lost its chain tension right away,so iam going to retension and
       try it again,thanks

If your cutters are different from one side to the other, the
more aggressive cutting side will do more cutting and cause the
       cut to go crooked
