Drilled and taped new hole on the mill and then finished off the rest by hand. The hole was a little off originally from the remainder of the original. I had to move it over so the decomp would seat correctly, so the threads are not full circle but it's plenty to hold it tight. I had a 084 cyl with bad decomp hole that could have used that treatment. #Post#: 58297-------------------------------------------------- Re: Welded and repaired Stihl 084 decomp boss By: srcarr52 Date: May 28, 2015, 12:01 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
Very nice. But Lakeside Andy seemed to say it was pretty common when I ask him about it. He had pretty much said to fix the same way you did. Not sure but thinking Ron may have my old cylinder. The threads were gone on half a side if I remember right. I have A-4043 (which is so called silicon-rich), A-5356 (mag-rich) and A-5183 (also mag-rich), wonder if I can try this job with one of these rods, thanks in ahead.
