       330

I rebuilt a 330 couple years ago- New rings, new boot, plug,
lines, carb kit, etc - ran great but now it won't start. Will
pop with fuel in the carb but won't pull fuel from tank. Rebuilt
carb again including pulling welch plug and insuring the
       progression ports aren't plugged.
Can't figure out why it won't pull fuel
I'm at a loss without totally tearing this thing down. Really
could use the benefit of others' experience with this
misogynistic POS or other saws with same problem.
Be advised that I was studiously careful when rebuilding this.
It ran well right afterward but after sitting for couple years
it won't start. Only ever had non ethanol in it.
I'm resigned to having to take it apart again but dread doing
so. only thing I can figure is hole in impulse line. we'll see.

WAG. Does it stay running with mix as you squirt through carb?
Not just pop but keep it running.

If the impulse is good then I would say you need to try a
       different carb.
Did you do a pressure test of the crank case by blocking from
the back of the carb and back of the muffler.
That would check the intake that way also for an air leak. I
would also do a compression test.
2 years is a good time sitting on a shelf and you never know.
I would check the muffler for any obstructions from bugs.

       thanks for the input.
haven't done any pressure testing. one of those Neanderthals
that doesn't yet have a compression tester. makes diagnoses
       interesting to say the least.
I just disconnected the impulse line, pulled the engine over,
thinking I might feel some vacuum - didn't. course my fingertip
is not that well calibrated. however, when I was doing that I
saw some fuel in the fuel line. still wouldn't start though.

I am thinking just pops but wont run when squirting in fuel. I
am thinking spark, coil etc. Just my WAG.
I had that echo 3900 coil go bad just setting. Then it started
working then it went bad again.

i'm gonna start with simple first. gonna try new spark plug just
for grins. gotta get a compression tester; compression feels ok
when pulling but ya never know.

Is the plug wet or dry after trying a start session?
You say not drawing fuel which wouldnt be what I am guessing.
But then you say fuel is in the line. Thats why I am thinking
       my route.

Intake boots are bad to rot/crack. I've got 2 nice 330's boots
       are bad on both.
