filter types and part numbers are listed.

The air filters are still available, but the top covers are NLA.
Parts for this family of sas is starting to get iffy,
particularly the early twin coil models. Noticing it on the
orange side also.

The 2 piece coils were a problem a couple of years back. OEM
set was around $180 or more if I remember right. Now lots of
sources for AM. I've been stocking up on everthing I can find
for this series because of "iffy". Seeing more and more NLA's.

The shortage of parts for the 100 series Jonsereds is getting to
the point of being frustrating. Scott at Chainsawr.com has new
and used parts for a lot of brands, specializes in Jonsered.
His operation has kept my 910E in operation by supplying good
used parts. Recently The muffler was burned out and he supplied
a used unit that kept the saw going.
The frustration is due to having a very good, strong running
Jonsered that I would like to keep using for a long time. It
continues to be my primary falling and bucking saw that I use on
trees over 24 inches in diameter and it appears that it will
cost at least $600 to $1000 and possibly more to replace the saw
if a part, that I would consider a normal wear part, like a
muffler, dies.
I realize that planned/designed obsolescence my be involved and
in the bulk of products that is definitely the reason for lack
of replacement part availability. One very interesting thing
about chainsaws is the tendency to become extremely attached to
your favorite saw that always starts, runs strong and in large,
has a history of being bomb proof.
Preferably, the manufacturers would do more to provide parts
access for good saws of age, or aftermarket suppliers would pick
up the short fall. That being said, without the above
occurring, we are fortunate that we have the Chainsawr.com type
of business that work hard to keep the rest of us in operation.
Keep the old saw parts coming!

I wouldn't say that anything is "planned" beyond the fact that
after a certain time there is no business case to be made to
support a saw that is 30 years old. For those of us that have
them of course, we'd like to be able to still get parts. But the
number of such saws still in use is limited and the demand for
parts is too small to manufacture or import them.
I recently scored another load of stuff from a former Jonsered
dealer. I think I've got enough now that I will "go public" at
some point and offer the stuff for sale. But I first need to
inventory everything and get it organized and maybe on my
website. Many of the part numbers are worn off the bags.
Fortunately though, I'm enough of a Jonsered Geek that I
recognize most of them.
There are some interesting things in those boxes, much of it
NLA. NOS 70E cylinder assembly, 111 cylinder gaskets, a fair
amount of 900 series parts. Lot's of goodies.

I know where new 111 top ends are at if someone ever needs a
hook up ;) . Not cheap give away priced but fair priced and
worth it if you do 111's IMO

I for one would be very interested to see what you have come up
with in the cash of Jonsered parts. I only have one Jonsered
product, the 910E, my baby, but my youngest son is, as you say,
a Jonsered geek, he has chainsaws, back pack powered weed
whackers, hedge pruner, pole saw and other Jonsered equipment.
I have used several of his toys and they have sold me on
Jonsered, with the exception of a weak dealership organization
in our area of Oregon.
Almost had to go through an act of Congress to locate any
muffler for my 910E, let alone a muffler equipped with an
approved spark arrester. Scott at Chainsawrs .com sent me a
good used muffler that had no spark arrester, a requirement in
the woods of Oregon. He also sent some spark arrester screen
material I was able to braze into the burned out muffler to
produced a fairly good unit to meet the State requirements.
My next step will be to attempt to fabricate a spark arrester
equipped muffler of my own design if I am unable to locate
another one in satisfactory condition.
That saw has been extremely good to me. It has even spent many
hours on the end of a 48" double ended bar, matched up with a
big Remington power head, both of which were mounted to an
Alaska Saw mill to produce curly maple slabs for one of my
sawmill customers. It has gone back to falling and bucking
since I acquired a Lucas Mill back in 1996.

your cash of goodies sorted.

I just picked up a 625 as a fixer. I have to find a new
tank/handle, but other than that and the air filter cover it's
all there. Since I am the type that has trouble leaving things
stock, I am wondering if it would be worthwhile trying to find a
670 cylinder for this saw? If I installed the 670
cylinder/piston, would I have to also find a different top cover
to clear the spark plug on the 670 cylinder?

I believe the 670 boots are no longer available- might want to
think about a 272 top
