By: John Mc Date: November 22, 2022, 12:32 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Has anyone heard much about the Stihl MSA 300 battery saw and when it might be available in the US? I've been seeing some interesting reviews on it. I'm not ready to make a wholesale switch to battery saws, but this one looks interesting enough that I might check it out. Stihl claims that with their AP 500 S battery the saw is roughly equivalent to their MS 261. #Post#: 89653-------------------------------------------------- Re: MSA 300? By: Chainsawrepair Date: November 22, 2022, 3:32 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Did a thread on it awhile back on my CR FB group. Dont recall it all anymore. Suppose to cut with the MS261 Both side pics #Post#: 89659-------------------------------------------------- Re: MSA 300? By: John Mc Date: November 23, 2022, 7:06 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Thanks Cut4Fun. I have not been active on here in a while. I did not even realize the Battery saw section existed. For some reason, notifications about this thread were diverted to my spam folder. #Post#: 89660-------------------------------------------------- Re: MSA 300? By: John Mc Date: November 24, 2022, 6:54 am --------------------------------------------------------- Thanks. Just sent a request to join. I prefer forums such as this to FB groups for these kinds of topics - it's much easier to find old posts or search on a topic that interests me, but I thought I'd check out what is going on in the FB group as well. #Post#: 89671-------------------------------------------------- Re: MSA 300?
To me forums have been dead for years, not very many active members on any if you check actual numbers. I just use this one like a file cabinet now. Save the best info to for safe keeping. FB groups have a search engine too. I can search for threads all the way back to 2013 when I started that group. Just lot of folks dont like leaving their comfy safe spots. I know I like the fast pace info for repairs there 10 to 1 over a forum. GL #Post#: 89675-------------------------------------------------- Re: MSA 300? By: John Mc Date: November 25, 2022, 6:33 am --------------------------------------------------------- I'm, aware of the Facebook forum search function (I use it a fair amount to find stuff for my antique truck n a model specific group). A forum is just so much more organized - easy to narrow in on a subject, or to browse in a specific area. As you implied, it makes a better "file cabinet". It also seems here is less "fluff": not as much unrelated stuff, and in a well run one, people don't tend to drift off into the political BS. #Post#: 89683-------------------------------------------------- Re: MSA 300? By: pleasant Date: November 28, 2022, 4:00 pm --------------------------------------------------------- 20-40 minutes run time, and then after every 20-40 minutes it's nearly an hour of down time to re-charge. That's not advancement in my book. And unlike a pro petrol saw, if the motor goes- not repairable economically, as a body only machine is cheaper than a serious repair, so it's land fill. #Post#: 89684-------------------------------------------------- Re: MSA 300?
I dont allow that BS anywhere. ;) Take that stuff somewhere else IMO if they want to talk that. We keep at least 5 batts ready to go and had as many as 7. But gave a few to my son so he had more then 1. For wives pole saw, chainsaw, trimmer, drill etc etc etc. Best thing I ever did. Saves me alot of work following her around with a gas saw etc. ;D ***************************************************** (DIR) Next Page
