Great looking bikes. I've met several riders over the last
couple of years that have both a KLR and V-Strom. When you
changed, did you find yourself using your KLR on the street
       mostly?

Yeah we bought the KLRs to ride to AK and back. So mostly
pavement. Though we did have about 600-700 miles of gravel this
last trip. I also buried my KLR in the mud. Considering the
riding my dad and I like to do I think the V-Strom was a good
       switch.
The KLR is a great bike. It just wasn't comfortable to me. Not
bad but not great. I actually didn't realize it as much until I
got on dad's V-Strom. I did a bunch of research to get to what
bike to buy. Top on the list was something he could flat foot.
His KLR was tall. We lowered it for the first trip up but it was
always trying to fall over. So we changed back to normal height
which helped but made him uncomfortable at stops. It was way to
tall for me. My unloaded V-Strom seat height is like my loaded
KLR was. So on a trip its gonna be nice. Plus just overall its
       more comfortable for me.
The way I figure it, if I want to off road more I will just get
a more off road oriented bike. Something far lighter than the
       KLR or Strom.
Then if I want to ride it on the street and its not a dual sport
I can convert it. I grew up on a XR80 and was used to a bike
that was way lighter. Off road that seems to be a plus.

Both very cool! Yeah, a Strom is on my list for most possible
next bike purchase. I will keep my KLR I just want the same
things, a little lower and a little more street savy.
