       80/20 Christian?
       By. Rev. Tim Lightle

In the realm of adventure motorcycle riding we enjoy riding that
removes us from the busy highways and interstates of the world.
Our ability to do so and get off the beaten path depends heavily
on tire selection. With many riders including myself the 80/20
(80% pavement-20% off-road) is the correct choice. This tire
allows a great time blasting down the two lane twisty highways
as well as allowing us a little gravel in our travel. But what
happens when the terrain gets a little tough? Is 80/20 still
good enough? If the path gets muddy we may slip and fall or even
sink. If the climb if too steep we may stall or just spin out.
This idea made me reflect on my walk with Christ. Am I an 80/20
Christian? I know that Revelation 3:15-16 tells me: “I know all
the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish
that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm
water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!
Although I may go to church, read my Bible and even feel like I
could handle a little bit of life’s gravel in adversity of some
form. This verse tells me 80% is not what God wants from me.
It begs me to ask myself, What will I do when I ride up on the
steep mountain of loose rock and sand that is placed before me?
How will I react to a life challenge that is going to take me
out of my riding abilities and away from my comfort zone? Would
I try it? Is my 80/20 Christianity going to be good enough? I
don’t know, but it’s doubtful. What I do know is: “For I can do
everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”(Phil 4:13
       NLT)
Knowing this truth, just as I would prepare my bike for a ride,
I also need to prepare my life for the ride as well. I can do
       this with:
       ___ Bible study
       ___ Worship
       ___ Serving
       ___ Prayer
       ___ Fellowship
       ___ Accountability
       ___ Fasting
       ___ Mission
       ___ Other?
This way when life challenges before me I know my relationship
with Christ with give me the traction to push through.
Are you an 80/20 Christian? What are you doing to achieve the
traction needed to serve Christ in a way that brings Him glory?

Hey Rev. Awesome food for thought on this. I too use a 80/20
tire to ride on (Kenda). And I too have examined my 80/20
behavior with similar results. One thing that I have started to
do at work is to have a morning devotion and Bible readings
before we start the day. With business at it's worst and deep
depression set in I felt that I needed a closer relationship
with Jesus. I got tired of sitting on the fence, so to speak,
and afraid of what my employee's would think or how they would
react to doing a devotion and Bible study so I dove in all the
way. I completely broke down and cried in front of my guys the
first time I did this but with my Maxwell Leadership Bible and
"Jesus Calling" devotional I feel much better everyday when we
start. The other guys are participating in prayer and feeling
comfortable talking about God in our business. All I want to do
is bring Honor and Glory to Him no matter what the circumstances
are, I trust in the Lord to deliver me and provide for me. My
stress level at work has been much easier thanks be to God being
able to carry my load too! There is still much more work to be
done with me but my attitude is- I'm all in!!! If you get a
chance to "tune in" check out my Pastor Levi Lusko from
FreshLifeChurch.org. We are getting ready for our big Easter
Celebration here in Kalispell its going to be epic and we hope
and pray that we have many people give their lives to Jesus.
       Thanks for your message Rev.!
