Thanks, Irena. I'm trying to teach SHL the art of being a
gentleman. But you know what they say about old dogs.

Nikola's construction is colloquial and fine for everyday usage.
Of course it's not something she'd want to teach in the
       classroom, as she knows.

The art of being a gentleman? And you said I didn‘t know who
Mark Twain was. Hum. You think I‘ve been living in a bubble? Of
course I know who Mark Twain was. I quote him all the time. He’s
said a lot of witty humorous stuff. I’m trying to think of one
of my favorites of his. Have to look it up.

Steve... Go have some fun! For heaven's sake. You're in Germany.

What did you write that was wrong? Was it the „hardly at all“

Boy, is that getting picky. Maybe it blew by me, but I‘m still
not sure what was wrong with what you wrote.

Oh I know Irena. But I have a long day tomorrow and will be
seeing new people I haven’t seen for the first time in 39 years,
so it should be fun. They are really nice people.
I found these folks on the internet and emailed them, and they
were delighted to hear from me and invited me to stay over a
night on my way up North. I used to rent a room out from them in
1980 when I worked in Braunschweig that Summer.
And look at Jerry, giving me that sad mark!

Steven, I was just wondering how this turned into a discussion
about politics and who is/isn't a gentleman or a language
expert. Come on, guys, problem solved now. Irena's right, go out
       and do something nice ;D

Hey, don't blame me. I wasn't the one who injected gentlemanly
behavior into this. Er, well, that didn't come out right, did it
now? I mean that someone else inserted that comment. :D
This is just another of our once-daily tempests in a teapot.
What do the Brits say? A tornado in a wash tub? A typhoon in the
       outhouse? Something of that nature.
At any rate, this is how you know that guys like each other.
Insults and kidding, it's all part of the game. ;)

I did as you and Irena advised and took a nice Stadtbummel, a
little walk around. Well, Neunhofen is not really a Stadt, so
maybe I should just call it a Bummel, or „Neunhofen-Bummel“.
But, then it started to rain a bit, so I came back. It’s
       supposed to rain heavily tomorrow.
I just read a shocking and new article in Salon about the
       current state-of-affairs under you-know-who in that horror-show
of a country I wish I didn‘t have to go back to eventually. Not
wanting to mix up your thread Nikola, I‘ll just link it
       elsewhere.
I still don’t know what was wrong with your grammar here. ;)
Just to prove I did take a walk I took a few pics:
