But the love affair between Becton and Stoutland is stronger than even I imagined it would be. And Lane is now talking as if he's gonna be playing for several more seasons, meaning that starting RT isn't a realistic goal for Becton. Steen is under contract for 3 more years. Starting Becton now would still give us time to figure out a long term role for Steen. #Post#: 381251-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: MayockIsTheProblem Date: June 8, 2024, 10:19 am --------------------------------------------------------- Steen is a softie #Post#: 381257-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: PhillyPhilly Date: June 8, 2024, 11:25 am ---------------------------------------------------------
Steen is a softie
Anyone who killed it at RT and LT in the SEC is a baller in my book. But yeah, Becton definitely wins every prison yard fight. #Post#: 381311-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: Docj227 Date: June 8, 2024, 6:42 pm --------------------------------------------------------- did becton play a single snap at rg? he filled in for landon at lg. what makes you think that he is going to replace steen? #Post#: 381314-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: PhillyPhilly Date: June 8, 2024, 7:12 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
did becton play a single snap at rg? he filled in for landon at lg. what makes you think that he is going to replace steen?
For one thing he's officially taking snaps at guard. Stoutland made a special request to Howie to get Becton and can't stop lavishing praise on him. #Post#: 381354-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: Docj227 Date: June 9, 2024, 10:12 am ---------------------------------------------------------
For one thing he's officially taking snaps at guard. [/quote but none at right guard. that's the point. he filled in for dickerson, but didn't take any of steen's reps #Post#: 381374-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: PhillyPhilly Date: June 9, 2024, 10:57 am ---------------------------------------------------------
but none at right guard. that's the point. he filled in for dickerson, but didn't take any of steen's reps
The tea leaves are pretty clear here. #Post#: 381407-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: Docj227 Date: June 9, 2024, 11:30 am ---------------------------------------------------------
The tea leaves are pretty clear here.
Yeah, he can back up at either guard or tackle. #Post#: 381416-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: PhillyPhilly Date: June 9, 2024, 11:42 am ---------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, he can back up at either guard or tackle.
The odds of a starter getting a season ending injury is somewhat high, but I don't think Stoutland is going to risk losing Becton on the hopes that a starting spot opens up for him via injury next season. I like Steen a lot, but I can see why Stoutland would prefer Becton, short term and long. Becton is a physical freak, a pancake machine with 36 inch arms and 11 inch hands. Steen is physically impressive, but still more of a skill based lineman. #Post#: 381514-------------------------------------------------- Re: Becton getting a lot of push for that starting RG spot By: Iverson319 Date: June 9, 2024, 6:50 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
4 weeks ago I thought Steen had the job in the bag.
