       Help with purchasing a transformer
       By: hancdc1 Date: November 23, 2020, 10:16 am

       I just purchased a 1974 6-8463 GP20 Locomotive that has remote
forward, neutral and reverse operation. For now it will only run
under the Christmas tree, no accessories or anything. I need a
       transformer. Recommendations?

A Lionel CW80 transformer is a good new transformer to start
       with.

If you want similar power at a lower price, look up the used
postwar 1033 transformers on the auction sites.
If you have access to a local Lionel train store, they may have
       them there.

Larry, like the other rail fan needing a transformer, my
question is I also have an HO trolley that runs on an out and
back track. Figured it would be neat if I could incorperate it
into my Christmas tree display. Or will I have to use the "toy"
power pack that came with it.

Morning Train Larry, well, here it is August, and I have done
nothing to get my tired/old post war Hudson up and running.
Looking for several things...new parts for the ole girl, trucks
and couplers, power packs, a small under the tree track design
that can be taken down and stored. As I said in an earlier post
(space is of the essence). I have 6ft. X 6ft. and only 3ft.
area to play with. The track would set in a corner, with an
elevated area for the tree to sit on and my HO scale trolley to
run. The main line would run thru a mountain (the elevated
platform for the tree), and circle back on itself. GRAND DREAMS,
little money, but anxious for Grandkids and Great Grandkids and
Myself to experience the thrill of Model Trains....IAM GOING TO
NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN MUSTER.
Thanks in advance..Bill aka "Dead Head To Georgia"
