By: Trains4fun100 Date: December 15, 2020, 7:50 pm --------------------------------------------------------- I have a Lionel 380E standard gauge train set that I would like to run along the wall in my man cave. I would like to make it look as nice as possible so what is the best way to clean the cars inside and outside? #Post#: 2634-------------------------------------------------- Re: What is the best way to clean train cars? By: djacobsen Date: December 17, 2020, 8:49 am --------------------------------------------------------- Trains4fun100 Hello & Welcome to the Forum! Some train fanatic's refer to that dirt as natural weathering or sign's of love shown to the train.. lf the train has been played with/loved. NOT a spotless SHELF QUEEN.... So ya' wanna clean'er up & make her pretty... .simple is to take warm water with a few drops of liquid soap in it & a soft cloth to wipe them with. A soft paint or shaving brush to dust them with first. If you disassemble the cars be careful when bending the tabs holding them together. Alternately you can use a commercial product such as Maguire's cleaner & polish to pretty them up with. It's up to you as to keeping them original, cleaning them up or completely restore them... By: Trains4fun100 Date: December 18, 2020, 1:22 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for the info. Keep it simple stupid. I’m not ready for a complete restoration. I’ve completed two bicycle restoration and I understand the commitment to a restoration. *****************************************************
