Lionel BNSF O Scale stuck on full throttle

Hello, I am new to this forum and happy new year to all. I
apologize if this has been posted, but a search couldn't find
       anything.
I purchased Lionel BNSF LionChief Set with Bluetooth O Scale
(model 684732) in around December 2019. It worked flawlessly
until about a month ago (roughly 1 year + several days after my
purchase date). The train became stuck on what appears to be
full throttle, as soon as it touches the powered track. Here is
       the observed behavior:
       - When placing on the powered track, the wheels spin at what
       seems to be full throttle
       - The chime beeps, just as it would chime when it initially gets
       power.
       - The horn and bells still work.
       - Setting the throttle in forward, on the remote, changes
       nothing.
       - Setting the throttle in reverse and half throttle or more
stops the locomotive briefly. Then it seems to flash lights, as
if power cycles, loses bluetooth connection, then reconnects and
proceeds back in full forward throttle.
       - The exact same behavior holds for the remote and the app
Since it happened so close to the warranty expiration, I tried
contacting Lionel, but they seemed to have ignored my request.
Now I'm trying to see if I can fix it myself. I was reluctant at
first, to avoid warranty issues, but I'm guessing I'm on my own,
at this point, and need to fix it myself. Thanks for anyone's
       help/advice.
BTW, I tried uploading a picture, but it said the upload folder
is full, so I'm unable to upload.
