By: MikeW Date: August 13, 2023, 10:36 pm --------------------------------------------------------- ive had an HO set for eons. its as old as me well almost. Recently i wanted to get back into trains but wanted an "O" scale. Trains have come a long way. I bought a Polar express complete set with blue tooth remote. Not crazy about the Loco so i went looking for one i liked. Found a 4 6 0 not realizing i have no way to run it. While reading i found i need a train master command set with cab controller. No such thing as a new one. Found older loco's ran with a variable transfomrer like my HO had. but that means i need 2 tracks to run either train. I guess my question would be is there any way to run both engines on one set of tracks? Not at the same time of course. I noticed the LCS system in one of the other threads. Will that work for the 4 6 0 without any of the original cab system parts? Or can i just use the lcs and app for my phone? Please tell me i have not spent alot of money for nothing. Thanks Mike #Post#: 3034-------------------------------------------------- Re: not sure what to get. By: MikeW Date: August 15, 2023, 7:47 pm --------------------------------------------------------- okay here is what i have learned. The engine i purchased is a LCCS engine. I have to have a command control and cab set. The LCS wifi unit will not control the engine. It will control everything along it however. So as i see it i have 3 options. I can set up a separate track with a manual transformer speed regulator like my old HO set. I can buy a LCCS set from ebay at exorbitant rates most run $250-$400. Or i can box up the engine I like back in the box put it on a shelf and forget about it until I can find a better priced Lccs system. This sound about right to yall? Thanks. Your only complaint with your complete set is that you didn't like the locomotive. Overall, complete sets cost less, and then you can buy individual pieces later. *****************************************************
