       Welcome to the forum!
You can use your ZW transformer to power a LionChief train set.
Hook up the ZW to the track, and turn up the power to 18 volts
and leave it there. The LionChief remote will now control all
functions of the train. You must use the remote to control the
train. You do not touch the transformer at all.
LionChief Plus sets have a switch that will allow you to either
run the train with the remote, or switch to conventional mode
and use the transformer to operate the train.
If you set up 2 independent loops of track, you can use one
throttle of your ZW transformer to operate the LionChief/Plus
set on one loop using the remote, and a second loop connected to
a second throttle of your ZW and control your old trains the
       conventional way.
