ok I have just bought two fairly mint condition 1993 versions of
the 51 21 and 5122 switch from Lionel with remote thing. I need
to run an accessory voltage because the main line sometimes the
train trots very very slowly. analog regulated and the voltage
is well below 8 volts At times. I am also using DC voltage that
I concocted my own transformer because I like the train to run
very slowly with very little sine wave noise. None the less it
runs very nice. sooner or later I will upgrade to an AC legacy
unit or something more sophisticated then what I'm using now And
       prior.
I need to run an accessory voltage to the remote switch because
of reason above and any time the switch is activated with use of
the main lineit has instant voltage drop if below 9 volt, that
is the train slows down to a halt and the switch has not enough
volts to tirgger itself. ( amps is usually constant to 2-4 amps.
) Which isn't a bother to me I'm just trying to work everything
       out.
the problem is I bought the switch and the manual says I can cut
this wire to have an accessory voltage the problem is the wire
is so tight and because there are three different wires, the
one in the middle as the manual describes that potentially looks
like it can be cut. Then two wires on either side of the
inductor coils that control the switch. I bought these at a good
price for $10 each the man was nice I'm poor I don't want to
break it . plus it functions flawlessly at Main Line higher than
8 9 volts. I just recently kind of got into trains, I had some
trains when I was younger but I want to really do it up nice if
can anyone tell me with their experience and understanding with
Lionel products what do I do because this is kind of differing
from the instruction manual, slightly. I have attached some
       photos

       shows how to modify
the switch coils on the 027 switches to accept an external fixed
voltage for operation. The relevant part begins just after the 5
       minute mark.
