I'm new to the hobby and hope to do some restoration and repair this winter. I have Pre-war, post war and modern trains most of which will need some new wire soldering projects and heating of tabs to remove handrails etc. Thanks in advance for any help/light you can shed on this fairly broad subject. #Post#: 1671-------------------------------------------------- Re: soldering irons By: TrainLarry Date: November 2, 2017, 8:30 pm --------------------------------------------------------- For heavy duty soldering (wires to pickup rollers, slide shoes, etc.) I use a Weller #8200 Universal 140/100 watt dual heat soldering gun with a 7135W tip. For smaller jobs, I use a Weller 7770 handle, 37UG 50 watt heater, and a PL155 chisel tip. Larry *****************************************************
