       Lionel 027 remote gauge switch
       By: tim235 Date: January 1, 2020, 9:57 pm

My Lionel 027 remote gauge switch has been used in 10 years. It
only engages in one track. The switch will not go to the other
       track. I appreciate any thoughts

Happy New Year and welcome to the forum!
What model switch is it? A number of things can cause your
problem. Have you checked the wiring to insure it is intact and
also is the switch wired to the controller correctly? Are the
insulating pins in their correct position?
We need more information before help can be offered. Thanks.

Confirmed that the switch model is 5121.
Insulating pins are in correct position.
The three wires on the controller are securely wired to the
       switch.
When the power from the transformer is turned up, there is a
grinding sound coming from the switch.
When I attempt to use the controller to switch tracks, it
       appears to move slightly.
When I use the manual lever on the switch, it operates smoothly.
       Thank you

Confirm that the controller is wired properly to the switch. See

Take off the coil cover #7 and confirm the plunger #21 slides in
and out of the coil smoothly and is not hanging up.

       Larry,
Thanks for the info. It solved my problem. It was actually the
correct location of insulator pins. But you info was quite
       beneficial. Great job!
