Republicans on the House Intelligence and Judiciary committees have said the declassification will taint the Trump-Russia probe by showing it was illegitimate from the beginning, a theme the president has been stressing for months. "After two years of investigations and accusations from both sides of the aisle about what documents indicate, it is past time for documents to be declassified and let the American people decide for themselves if DOJ and FBI acted properly," House Freedom Caucus chairman Mark Meadows told Axios. Trump allies allege that Ohr played an improper intermediary role between the Justice Department, British spy Christopher Steele and Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that produced the Trump-Russia dossier. In addition, Ohr's wife worked for Fusion GPS on Russia-related matters during the presidential election, a fact that Ohr did not disclose on federal forms. Ohr, who previously served as associate deputy attorney general, was demoted late last year over his connections with Steele, according to The Hill. Trump has been hyping the declassification of these documents, so it appears the time is approaching for the public to discover whether they are as explosive as advertised, Axios reported. *****************************************************
