       Troops to the border
       By: guest582 Date: October 31, 2018, 9:22 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
MSN decided to keep fanning the flames by posting: "They're
trained for war, now they are heading to the US border".
Concerning military being deployed to the border. Thoughts?
Personally, the military is used in many purposes, not just war.
Humanitarian is a big part of their mission. How else is the US
supposed to deal with thousands of people attempting to gain
       entry to the US?

It likely sounds a whole lot worse to people than it actually
is, and Trump may believe the military can do more than they are
legally able to do. This article explains what the military
can/cannot do in this type of situation.

/>Basically all the military can do at the border is act as a
support group for the border patrol.
We do need to start really enforcing existing immigration laws.

Exactly. People don't realize that military does a lot more than
just fight for our country. When Hatians and Cubans got on rafts
to try to get to the US who does everyone think dealt with it?
Border patrol? No. It was the US military and not just Coast
       Guard, all branches were involved.

I think it’s stupid and a waste of money to be sending all of
       these troops out now.
What do do about the actually situation? I have no clue. I do
think we can, along with a few other countries and maybe the UN,
come up with some kind of solution, at least temporarily while
we (jointly) come up with something more long term.

Why wait? 3 of the battalions that are being sent are combat
engineers. That many people you have to figure out the logistics
       of housing/feeding them.
