Weren't... The Complete Motown Singles ...complete CD collection
just about the best CD set release ...ever...!

14 Volumes of Motown Sounds from 1959 to 1972 ...1,849 A & B
sides and alternative mixes ...over 75 CDs. Each volume with an
accompanying 'book' of annotations and essays for each track.
Sumptuous and often rare photos of our favourite artists. The
design was immaculate throughout.
I rarely play my set but just feel honoured to have been able to
receive and own it.

I agree that it was a brilliant concept Grape although I have
only ever played each volume that I have once. I skipped Vols 1,
11a, 11b & 12b!

The TCMS series has certainly set a gold-standard that no-one
else has been able to match so far.
I have copied the whole series onto MP3s which are in order, so
it is possible for me to play the entire series (all 75 Discs)
in one go. I've actually done this three or four times over the
past few years, the entire exercise taking over a week as I need
to sleep every now and then!! The entire experience is a great
way of living through the rise, rise and ultimate decline of
what has to be the world's best ever record label, with the
"golden period" being roughly from early '64 through to late '67
(just as I always thought). :)

...the Motown completist in me had to have the complete ...The
Complete Motown Singles sets ...I would have felt incomplete if
I hadn't...!

1 has 88/155 bad tracks
11a has 51/119 bad tracks
11b has 52/120 bad tracks
12b has 55/100 bad tracks
Although I bought 12a it has 45/113 bad tracks. I only bought it
to get the two Blinky tracks! Now there's dedication for you! Of
course it's really redundant! I may list on eBay in the new
year.
