Every day's a school day with Motown! This is news to me.
Soo joined Motown Records in 1965 as one of their first
non-African-American artists. During his time there, he recorded
a slow ballad version of "For Once in My Life" as the first male
singer to do so. The record was never released and was shelved
       in the Motown archives.

Dont get too (or Soo) excited I've heard it - there's a reason
it never got released. If you've ever heard the Ron Hill (he's a
writer not a singer) version of this on acetate then you have
heard Jack Soo. Akin it to a poor Frank Sinatra pub singer from
the 40's. He did just this one song plus what I guess woud have
been a possible B side another Ron Hill vaudeville type track
called Duo which has remained unreleased in several
       incarnations.

Don't worry Paul, I had no intention of getting excited. 'FOIML'
is a song I detest except for Blinky's version of course! Soo
looks more like someone you would see in Wheeltappers &
       Shunters!
