You would never guess which Marvelettes song I heard on the radi

One of my local radio stations has a one-hour soul music show
every day and they play some very obscure stuff, specializing in
the 60s and 70s. Today they actually played "After All" from the
Return of the Marvelettes album. I would not be surprised to
learn that was the first time that song had ever appeared on a
       radio station!

I wonder if Mr Snakepit has played "After All" on one of his
shows yet? And what radio station is this interesting-sounding
show broadcast on? ... "After All" it may be possible for me to
listen via the miracles of modern technology.
And talking of Miracles, it was a Smokey song and The Miracles
did the original version with what sounds like Claudette doing
       the lead ...

The Marvelettes version, being from a decade or so later is much
       more sophisticated sounding ...

On the subject of Marvelettes songs being heard in unusual
places, 5-10 years back the music in my local shopping-mall was
obviously programmed by a lover of '60s Soul and one morning I
was strolling through there and "Goddess of Love" came blasting
out of the speakers (and at a reasonable volume too). :)

No Roger I haven't played that track.. but I have played plenty
       others of a similar "obscurity"

Well actually guys I do listen online as opposed to the actual
"radio." So therefore I would assume you could listen from
anywhere in the world, if you want to give it a try. The station
is WQPO-FM, 106.3 in Staunton, Virginia, and the show airs each
weekday from noon to 1:00 PM. They also have oldies shows at
other times and even a blues program, but so far this Soul Power
hour is the only thing I have listened to.

Refresh my memory about the title and time. It might remind
       other folks as well.

Well then DD ... I think that this show might have another
regular listener, though as they dub it as "The Soul Power Lunch
Hour" and it starts at 5PM here maybe I could sue them for
       misrepresentation .... ;D
About half of what was played I was very familiar with and three
or four of the tracks that were played are regular spins on
Jazz-FM (my "go-to" station here in London) but there were a few
tracks that I didn't recognise to begin with, and two that I've
       yet to identify.
One of the "mystery tracks" that I have managed to identify is
what I believe to be the only Motown record they played ... "Let
Me Run Into Your Lonely Heart" by Eddie K ... even though I have
a CD copy of the LP it was on!! ... the shame, the shame, the
       shame!!!
 (HTM) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-p8BvtrczM
Even more disconcerting was the fact that the last track they
played was by Jerry Butler (one of my favourite singers) and I
don't think I'd ever heard it before ... yet another one for my
       wants-list I suppose!! ;)
I'm not sure if I'd heard The Isley Brothers version of "Put A
Little Love In Your Heart" before but it's very nice and one to
track down, plus it was great to hear Curtis Mayfield's "We've
Got To Have Peace" ... it got a fair amount of airplay over here
on release and I bought the UK 45 at the time but nowadays it is
invariably overlooked by Jazz-FM in favour of "Move On Up",
       Superfly" or "Freddy's Dead".
Strangely, the Etta James track they played sounded annoyingly
familiar and for a while I thought it was by Marlena Shaw, I
then realised it was Etta James about 10 seconds from the end
only to find that the next track was Marlena's "Woman Of The
Ghetto" (one of the big Jazz-FM favourites)!!
The show was actually very different from what Mr Snakepit does,
being very "Mellow-Funk"/"Blaxploitation" orientated ... with
the tracks I could identify being from 1968-1974. Just two
gripes though .... One, they didn't say what they were playing
and Two, they played a very strange mix of Archie Bell's
"Tighten Up" that lacked the depth and power of the original
       45!! :D
Thanks for turning me on to the show.
       Roger

Aha!! I've managed to find the playlist for today's show ....
 (HTM) https://spinitron.com/WQSV/pl/18557555/Soul-Power-Lunch-Hour
For those who may be wondering the two tracks I was unable to
identify were the ones by Maceo & The Macks and Frederick Knight
... I must have heard the Maceo track before as I have a copy of
it on a compilation CD!! ;D
