       ---------------------------------------------------------
I'm trying to compile a list of UK singles that got a second
chance and made it bigger second time around. Have I missed any?
       Dancing In The Street - #28 in '64 and #4 in '69
       Jimmy Mack - #21 in both '67 & '70
Get Ready - Nothing in '65 but #10 in '69
My Girl - #43 in '65 but #2 in '92 because of the movie
(Come 'Round Here) I'm the One You Need - #37 in '66 but #13 in
       '71
Tracks of my Tears - Nothing in '65 but #9 in '69
       I Can't Help Myself - #23 in '65 but #10 in '70
Road Runner - Nothing in '66 but #12 in '69
This Old Heart of Mine - #47 in '66 but #3 in '69
       I Guess I'll Always Love You - #45 in '66 but #11 in '69
Heaven Must Have Sent You - Nothing in '66 but #3 in '71
Put Yourself in My Place - Nothing in '65 but #28 in '71
I'll Say Forever My Love - Nothing in #68 but #7 in '70
What Becomes of the Brokenhearted - #8 in '67 but #4 in '74
       Stop Her on Sight (S.O.S.) - #35 in '66 but #11 in '68
These Things Will Keep Me Loving You - Nothing in '66 but #34 in
       '71
I've Never Been To Me - Nothing in '77 but #1 in '82

       1970.
"Just Walk In My Shoes" ... Nothing in 1966, #35 in 1972.

And there is Marvin Gaye's "Little Darling" which was a #50 in
1966 and was listed as high as #41 when reissued as a "B" side
at the end of 1971 ...

Though, apparently, the two versions of "Little Darling" weren't
exactly the same .. one Mono with strings in 1966, one Stereo
       without strings in 1971 ...

The Commodores "Sweet Love" ... Nothing in 1976, #32 when
reissued in 1977 on the other side of "Brick House" ...

Stevie's "If You Really Love Me" ... Nothing in 1971 (when
issued as a "B" side), #20 in 1972 when reissued as an "A" side"
       ...
 (HTM) https://www.45cat.com/record/tmg798
Martha's "Forget Me Not" ... Nothing in 1968 (when issued as a
"B" side), #11 in 1971 when reissued as an edited "A" side ...
 (HTM) https://www.45cat.com/record/tmg762
Edwin's "25 Miles" ... Nothing when released in September 1968,
       #36 when re-promoted in September 1969.

And we could also include "The Night" (Nothing in 1972, #7 when
reissued in 1975) though it was on Mowest, so technically not a
       TMG.

I hadn't forgotten about 'Forget Me Not' although I did try! It
could not have been a hit first time round as it was never an
'a' side. It still amazes me how this horrible record became
Martha's second highest UK hit! I may be Scottish but I hate
bagpipes! Same applies to 'If You Really Love Me' which was not
an 'a' side upon original release.

Well John ... interesting takes on those epics by Mr Wonder and
       Ms Reeves.
"If You Really Love Me" might have been a UK "B" side first time
around but the US 45 was released only two weeks after the UK
"Never Dreamt You'd Leave Me In Summer"/"If You Really Love Me"
single and I, for one, bought the first release having heard "If
You Really Love Me" being played on American Forces Radio as his
       latest US Hit.
As for "Forget Me Not", does it really contain bagpipes? They
sound like trumpets to me!! My mother also had a phobia for
bagpipes (as far as I can work out there is no specific word for
this condition) which makes me wonder if we might be related.
       ;D

Funnily "Just A Little Misunderstanding|" was also a UK "B" side
the first time around with the official "A" side being the very
       forgettable "Determination". :)

OK, they are pretend bagpipes! When Martha performed it in my
local Scottish theatre she came on stage with bagpipes and
danced the highland fling or perhaps she had just been bitten by
       a midge!
