Last spring I found a couple of outboards on line and decided to build a boat to mount them on. Here's what I came up with. Here is a short video where I show off my superb driving skills :) , enjoy (HTM) https://youtu.be/GT8F1fiPINw #Post#: 41815-------------------------------------------------- Re: Scratch built electrc By: txlabman Date: May 12, 2021, 2:55 pm --------------------------------------------------------- A neat build. It looks like the boat survived the mild collision with the swim dock. Where did you source the outboard motor? Would love to see a closeup of the RC Controls in the Boat. #Post#: 41820-------------------------------------------------- Re: Scratch built electrc By: Stoker Date: May 12, 2021, 3:36 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Neat & clean boat construction there Bill. Are you working from a plan or is it your own design? Finished product looks just the thing for the twin outboards..... though the steering seems just a touch squirrely, or maybe it's just that the captain has been into the rum locker again?!?!? ;c) #Post#: 41821-------------------------------------------------- Re: Scratch built electrc By: St Paul Steam Date: May 12, 2021, 3:40 pm --------------------------------------------------------- A fine vessel you've crafted there Bill with classic sleek lines, well done ! #Post#: 41826-------------------------------------------------- Re: Scratch built electrc By: AirSpyder Date: May 12, 2021, 4:40 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
A neat build.
Thanks Charlie, I'm sure the collision would have been worse if it weren't for my cat-like reflexes. :) I got the two motors from Ebay in 2018, it takes me a while to get around to a build. Anyway my Ebay purchases only show back to 2019 so I'll look for the instructions, they should have the manufacturer's name on them. as far as the wiring it was basicaly just an ESC a reciever and a battery. #Post#: 41827-------------------------------------------------- Re: Scratch built electrc By: AirSpyder Date: May 12, 2021, 4:51 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
Neat & clean boat construction there Bill. [attachimg=1] I had to scale it up as the outboards are huge, as you can see in the photo below they are about 10" high. [attachimg=2] I had only one outboard installed on the boat when I the video was taken. #Post#: 41828-------------------------------------------------- Re: Scratch built electrc By: AirSpyder Date: May 12, 2021, 4:54 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
A fine vessel you've crafted there Bill with classic sleek lines, well done !
Thanks Bruce, I tend to gravitate toward the older boat models for thier classic look and simplicity when building. *****************************************************
