Far better than it has gone in England! Players and refs settled
into it very quickly & it has been more inline with UEFA matches
in terms of application. The Federation has been quite
pro-active and they did identify a couple of areas they weren't
satisfied with and changes have been implemented for this season
but overall in 198 games there were maybe 4/5 controversial
decisions, if that. Goal checks are far quicker than here,
offsides is one of the areas they want improved although I can't
recall any really controversial calls. We had 2 incidents across
the whole season where VAR was used to determine ball in/out, we
don't have GLT. Clubs have been supportive overall. We use OFR
as standard and it's been fairly quick. Pretty equal as to
whether the ref has stood by their original decision or changed
it after an OFR. A few incidents, maybe 6 or so, where a penalty
call by the ref has been withdrawn & the attacker given a yellow
for simulation. We don't have the levels of dissent or
playacting in the first place - they are the exception rather
than the norm. Dissent is always a yellow so most players just
don't go there, same with simulation - always a yellow, it's
just not tolerated so it is pretty minimal. The worst offenders
tend to be the teams in European competitions because they are
exposed to it more. Players who do go there get ridiculed by the
TV commentators and in the written media - I think I laughed for
about 3 weeks straight the first time I heard Hajdú B. István
(best commentator ever) say stop whinging and get up fool to a
player having a paddy for not getting a free kick when he 'fell
over' followed by quite right too when said player was shown the
inevitable yellow card! It's a completely different world.

I spoke to the League of Ireland podcast between the stripes
abut the Fradi v Shamrock Rovers game, if anyone is interested.
It starts about 23 mins in & I get in a bit of defending
referees around 46 mins in. I'm really dreadful at these things!
I much prefer the newspaper interviews I did with the Scottish
press!

MLSZ disciplinary Committee 15th & 17th August
Disciplinary decision of August 15
The MLSZ Disciplinary Committee (FEB) made the following
decisions at its meeting on August 15.
NB II
After holding a hearing, the Disciplinary Committee ordered
Szeged to pay a HUF 2,000,000 fine in connection with the MTK
Budapest-Szeged Merkantil Bank League match played on August 1,
because of anti-Semitic behaviour on the part of the Szeged fans
who left the stadium after the match and were in its immediate
vicinity. a hateful expression was uttered.
Disciplinary decisions of August 17
The Disciplinary Committee of the MLSZ made the following
decisions at its meeting on August 17.
NB I
Baráth Botond (Vasas) 1 match suspension and Maxim Plakuschenko
(Honvéd) 1 match suspension for the next men’s adult
championship match.
NB II
Dominik Kocsis (Csákvár) 1 match suspension and Dominik Zoltán
Csontos* (Soroksár) 3 match suspension for the upcoming men’s
adult championship matches.
Red card was for OFFINABUS towards the referee Márió Zimmermann
NB III
Zoltán Sirokmán (Makó) 1 match suspension and Máté Papp
(Dunaújváros) 1 match suspension for the next men’s adult
championship match.
Technical manager Major Csaba (Balassagyarmat) received a ban
from match-related sports professional activity for 4
consecutive NB III championship matches.
Ban after two yellow card/red card
Bence Gergényi (ZTE) 1 match suspension, Ákos Barna Gergő
(Dorog) 1 match suspension, Péter Schmidt (Sényő) 1 match
suspension and Richárd Slezák (ESMTK) 1 match suspension for the
next men’s adult championship match.
Gábor Boznánszky (Futsal Academy) 1 match suspension for
upcoming men’s adult futsal champion match.
The president of the FEB ordered a disciplinary procedure
regarding the Makó-Iváncsa match played in the 3rd round of the
NB III, as the sports organisation organising the match did not
ensure the referees’ smooth departure from the sports facility.
