2024 Recruiting

I figure it's about that time ... and it's going to be a sizable
class of incoming talent, whether they're transfers or freshmen.
I know that we recently extended an offer to 2024s Josh DeCady
and Chike Ndefo. I really like DeCady. I saw him at a tournament
about a month ago, and he was the best player on the floor IMO.
Physical, thick, athletic, great motor – just a force on both
ends. I don't remember much about his shooting though. Anyway,
his offers to that point had been limited to the AE pretty much,
but now the MAAC, MAC and us are in the mix. I could see that
picking up even more steam.
With Maidoh having just this year left, I could see him sliding
into his spot. Then we have Noll, Clarke, TSM and Fitzmorris
coming off the books if I'm not mistaken. That could be our
starting five!

An interesting name is into the portal early: James Johns Jr. He
was very much a high-major kid out of LuHi and ended up at
Fairfield playing for his dad. Now the dad is out, having
"resigned" not long after the whole coaching debacle.
Granted, Johns is a Delaware kid so he may be looking to go back
south and will likely get some looks, but if he's looking for an
opportunity to spread his wings next year, here is as good a
place as any with so many players coming off the books.

Aside from Gorman, what else is brewing? We're losing our core
to graduation this year:
TSM, AC, Maidoh, Fitz, Noll, and Sabry
That leaves us with 9 returnees for next year:
Gorman (commit), Snoddy, JFrey, TO, Nahar, Muratori, Space,
Frederick, and PFrey, and that assumes that none of these guys
transfer (biggest flight risks are TO and Snoddy, IMO).
Unless we score big in the transfer portal, next year looks to
be a rebuilding year, as this year's team was built from the
portal (with an assist to last year's injuries for keeping some
guys around). I will certainly give Geno/staff some points for
his transfer portal recruits (Fitz, Maidoh, Snoddy, AC, and
Sabry). Maybe he can do it again (assuming that he's still
around)?

I hope the portal is good to us. It’s a little depressing
thinking about next year with all the fun we’re having this
year. We are showing interest in 6'6 wing Yoav Berman out of
Israel who is a two-year pro coming into college as a 20 year
old. However, seems like the high majors are now showing
interest also.

Interesting line in todays 'Together We Transform' regarding
senior day
[code]Saturday's home finale against Delaware is Senior Day,
which will give us an opportunity to celebrate Aaron Clarke,
Chris Maidoh, Dean Noll and Tyler Stephenson-Moore[/code]
Might be an oversight, but I'm guessing both Philip and Fitz
have been granted an extra year due to medical redshirts. (1
redshirt year, 1 covid year, 1 medical redshirt). Would be
really nice to have both of those guys back

Pav said on Saturday's broadcast that Fitz was given the green
light for an additional year. I was always under the impression
that Philip had another year. VC has him listed as a junior at
least eligibility-wise.

for next year pending 3 portal spots and potential transfer
outs:
PG: Toby O, Space
SG: J Frey, Frederick
SF: Philip, P Frey
PF: Snoddy, Gorman
C: Fitz, Nahar
Feels like we could use another 2 shooters.
