SBU Hockey Team

During halftime at the UMBC BB game last night I noticed a
celebration in the lobby about SBU's hockey team championship.
I didn't even know that SBU had a hockey team!! How come it
isn't covered on the official athletics website? Also, why
isn't it included under the banner of the America East
Conference?

Club hockey funded by USG. too expensive to be funded at the
NCAA division 1 level

SB Hockey is looking to go into the NCAA Div 1 but they need a
Hockey Arena. I think a Div 1 hockey team on Long Island would
do very, very well. They have a petition we all can sign
requesting SB go NCAA. I already signed it, i ask you guys do
to!!

Its very unlikely. Division I hockey requires a huge budget....
and we need a facility. I don't think there is any plans for D-I
hockey at the Brook in the near future.

The sticking point is we need a permanent hockey facility on
campus. Add to that about 24-30 male scholarships. Our team is
very good -just need funding and a new building on campus.
