By: nfaband Date: January 24, 2013, 8:49 am --------------------------------------------------------- OK ladies .... opinions needed, good and bad. I have never had a full set of cookware, rather I've had pieces all purchased separately, a frying pan here, a saucepan there .... nothing matches, some were OK, some not so great. I have decided that for once in my life I want a set that matches. I don't want non-stick based on all the info I've seen in the past regarding the materials used to create a non-stick surface connecting with "Alzheimers". So ... I thought it would be as simple as going online and searching stainless/all clad cookware and about a zillion things came up. All Clad sets start at about $600 and go up from their ... each set claiming they are the best, and have everything you'll ever need, but of course they don't always have what you need, and you end up needing to buy extra pieces at very high prices. I've had someone recommend the cookware from Pampered Chef, but when I went online I found a ton of "really bad reviews" especially on their newer stuff, not so much the older cookware that they used to sell, my cousin sells in and said to me "don't waste your money on it, to many complaints". I also thought ... Calphalon would be the way to go, not the most expensive, not the cheapest ... but when I searched on it, I found there are many levels of Calphalon, different finishes, and different prices, so not so easy. So ... what do you have? Do you love it? Any complaints? Any recommendations? Oh and Cast Iron is not even a consideration, I cook on a glass top stove. #Post#: 21277-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: KikiJames Date: January 24, 2013, 10:13 am --------------------------------------------------------- I LOVE Calphalon and have seen many great reviews on it. I spoke to a lady that had had hers for over 20 years and LOVED it. I only have 1 pan so far from this set: (HTM) http://www.target.com/p/kitchen-essentials-from-calphalon-hard-anodized-nonstick-10-piece-cookware-set/-/A-10910381#prodSlot=medium_1_3 (HTM) http://www.target.com/p/kitchen-essentials-from-calphalon-hard-anodized-nonstick-10-piece-cookware-set/-/A-10910381#prodSlot=medium_1_3<br />and it has been fantastic! When I have the money, I will buy more. I don't want the set though, because right now, I have some good pans from a previous set. I will eventually replace it all with Calphalon. P.S. I wouldg't get the Simply Calphalon. It's their cheaper end. #Post#: 21278-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: jscraps4u Date: January 24, 2013, 10:20 am --------------------------------------------------------- I also use Calphalon!!!! It last forever and cooks evenly! I've had my set for 20+ years now. #Post#: 21286-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: nfaband Date: January 24, 2013, 11:42 am --------------------------------------------------------- Janet ... do you use the anodized Calphalon or the Stainless? I have one saucepan from Calphalon that is the hard anodized, it is a non stick surface however and that makes me nervous. My cousin is a chef and tells me that stainless cooks more evenly and that when people say their food sticks it's because they are cooking at too high a temperature. He also said, put your food in the stainless, when it's ready to turn it will not stick in most cases. I've heard of circulon but haven't seen it anywhere lately? Do they still sell it? Kisha, what type of cookware did you have before that you liked so much? #Post#: 21287-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: SherrieScraps Date: January 24, 2013, 11:54 am --------------------------------------------------------- Tania, I have Farberware that I've used for 30 years now and it's held up beautifully! It also works on my flat top stove, as does my cast iron skillets. I feel cast iron is the way to go, once you season them they last forever! #Post#: 21295-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: maddawg Date: January 24, 2013, 12:32 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Calphon here too and we have both - because in the mornings we don't want the eggs sticking. #Post#: 21297-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: jscraps4u Date: January 24, 2013, 1:16 pm --------------------------------------------------------- I don't have the stainless...I don't really have a sticking issue. #Post#: 21302-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: maddawg Date: January 24, 2013, 4:08 pm --------------------------------------------------------- We have the stainless and they're a little tough getting used to - so we have a couple of nonstick that we use for eggs and stuffs we don't want sticking. #Post#: 21307-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cookware Questions ... By: KikiJames Date: January 24, 2013, 4:52 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
Kisha, what type of cookware did you have before that you liked so much?
I don't remember. LOL It's been over 10 years and I got them off of either QVC or HSN. They have held up well, but the skillet we used the most has already been replaced by my new Calphalon pan. ***************************************************** (DIR) Next Page
