When I moved out of my parents house I'm still only 30 minutes away. Well, come July this is all going to change. I'm moving from California to Tennessee which crosses 1,975 miles and 5 states in between the two. My husband has an uncle who moved there 2 years ago and they love it. We are going to stay with them until we get situated and on our feet. The company that I have worked at for the past 7 years are closing their doors after 53 years of business. So Greg and I decided to make a huge leap of faith and move. We have a our realtor coming by tonight to look at our house so we can up it on the market. Has anyone ever made a move like that before? I could use some advise. #Post#: 31400-------------------------------------------------- Re: I'm Moving By: maddawg Date: February 27, 2014, 4:44 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Wow. The last big move I made like that I was 15 so I'm not real sure I can help. Tania who is a member recently moved from Conn to Calif maybe she would have some insight. #Post#: 31401-------------------------------------------------- Re: I'm Moving By: ScrapHappyGabi Date: February 27, 2014, 5:06 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Hi Jessica Yes! I moved from Aspen Colorado to NJ about 20 years ago! It was a big move. You are starting early - do things in small increments - Make lists, find good movers, ask around. You will LOVE TENNESSEE! I just spent 2 weeks in August there ~ The mountains and people are amazing!! Make lists - Movers Cleaners Realtors Get family and friends addresses Solicit their help! Do little bits each day - because it DOES come quick if you wait till the last minute! Find out about pet licences - crossing state lines with pets (some states I believe need vet records) Ask around for new vet in the new area Kids? Look into schools and don't forget to have them registered for Fall (if ya have any kids!) Im a moving encyclopedia! Ask me anything! After my Dad was paralyzed in 1985, we decided to "Take Time to Smell the Roses" and bought the property here in the NE GA Mountains, about 500 miles from our home. Then in 1991, we quit our jobs, put the house on the market one day, left 2 days later and never looked back. It was the best thing we ever did. What part of Tennessee? #Post#: 31406-------------------------------------------------- Re: I'm Moving By: Barb Date: February 27, 2014, 8:19 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Good luck Jessica you will love Tennessee I am sure keep in touch. *****************************************************
