When you decide to take a road trip on the spur of the moment (
a couple of days ahead of time) how much pre-planning do you do?
or do you just throw stuff in the car and take off to discover
as you go?

I'm a planner, too. No spontaneous trips here, unless you count
going to see DD on the spur of the moment. She lives 2.5 hours
away.
