So the my Gilory Gardens idea is useless now. #Post#: 1408-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Mrceagle Date: November 3, 2019, 9:26 pm --------------------------------------------------------- I saw it as a bit too much of a dream in the first place. This is an OK idea but From what I can see the waterpark is not getting down graded they are simply Shoehorning in a Sesame Street and a few rides. Not all that impressive compared to the Sesame addition at Sea world. Not sure if this is really going to help the park get more attetnionthen Lego land/ater park and other competign parks. #Post#: 1412-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Pineracer Date: November 4, 2019, 10:27 am --------------------------------------------------------- Dutch Wonderland and the original seem to do very well, but the Legoland might drag NYC, New Englanders, and Canadians away. Also, it is very close to the Mexico border, so you have an untapped market with the Sesame brand (Monterrey has one based around the Latin American production, but that's on the other coast). #Post#: 1416-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Mrceagle Date: November 4, 2019, 9:25 pm --------------------------------------------------------- I get that it's close to Mexico but I doubt they will be seeing a lot of Tourism from there. Weatehr or not they are goign to draw tourists still doesn't change the fact it's not as impressive as the other sesame options and if those tourists are coming in they still have Legoland as an option. #Post#: 1420-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Pineracer Date: November 5, 2019, 12:21 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Legoland is another hour north. I do wonder what it means for Bay of Play at the San Diego park-the area of it is roughly 500x200 if that matters. #Post#: 1427-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Mrceagle Date: November 6, 2019, 5:05 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Maybe I'm assuming too much but I would think if you live in Mexico and have enough money to do a big vacation you likely don't live in a border town. With that, I figure tourists would be flying in not driving and therefore the hour distance means very little. also, your putting up a good sized water park with a Small themed section dry park against a separate themed watepark and a separate themed dry park. #Post#: 1429-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Pineracer Date: November 6, 2019, 6:01 pm --------------------------------------------------------- There was a period at the original between 1988 with the original Neighborhood area and 1998 with Vapor Trail at the original where they only added water rides, with The Count's Splash Castle being the only wet addition since. #Post#: 1432-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Mrceagle Date: November 7, 2019, 11:04 am --------------------------------------------------------- The fact the PA location is more water park then park and has very little to offer for its price is one of the biggest complaints I have heard about the park. you figure they would learn from their mistakes when making a second one. The lego lands seem to be getting better and more unique. Sesame Place seems to be plotting along and milking a well-known property. If they had land to build a solid dry park onto the water aprk this would be impressive but the handfull of rides its addinga re simply thorwn into whatever free space they can find. #Post#: 1434-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Pineracer Date: November 7, 2019, 12:03 pm --------------------------------------------------------- The park is surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and an amphitheater on the 4th. Working with the city, they could build a parking structure (as should the PA park, or at least a bridge like SFNE) #Post#: 1435-------------------------------------------------- Re: Sesame Place San Diego By: Mrceagle Date: November 7, 2019, 6:07 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Bridges are nice but I prefer the Tunnel that Storyland has. Maybe they can shift A couple slide towers to the mountainside and open up some room for dry park rides. *****************************************************
