I believe Supernova, Screamin’ Eagles, Greezed Lightnin’, relocated Blizzard + Bumper Cars and Outlaw should all be able to run in cold weather, on top of previously existing rides. #Post#: 1644-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: Mrceagle Date: January 4, 2020, 9:32 am --------------------------------------------------------- I'd like to see then try again. I mean there are plenty of winter activities in the area so there are people willing to be out in the cold. Unless comet was open I don't see a good reason to operate supernova. that's a long walk of nothing to ride one attraction. It's bad enough to have to make it for just 2. #Post#: 1645-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: CodyatTGE Date: January 4, 2020, 11:16 am --------------------------------------------------------- For some weird reason I feel like we’d have a more successful HiTP than SFNE. Where SFNE has a demographic of thrill seekers, a family centered winter activity with 1/2 the coasters closed doesn’t appeal to them. TGE is a more family friendly park and I think our locals would be okay with coming in, riding a couple rides and sledding or riding a horse carriage. #Post#: 1647-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: tge98 Date: January 4, 2020, 1:18 pm --------------------------------------------------------- I'd like to see them try it again, especially with the lodge right there. If they could create some kind of mega holiday event that is combined with the lodge I think it could work. It's also really interesting because HITP when GE had it was significantly different than HITP of today. GE was much more focused on experiences when now it's more focused on rides. Unless they go really overkill with lights, shows and holiday experiences I don't see it working rides wise. All the other parks have at least a few major coasters open. If GE ever did it, they might not be able to open any coasters. Flashback, Canyon Blaster and Bobsled 100% can't operate in the cold as they have issues even in fright fest. Comet and Demon are the only two that ~may~ be able to run. Also I'm relatively sure that supernova can't run in the cold as those hydraulic platforms usually don't work well in cold. So just a little thought this is what could hypothetically run Ghost Town: Outlaw Bumper Cars Demon Hot Rod: Thunder Ally Greezed Storytown Train Carousel TimberTown: Everything? Fest: Skyride Blizzard Pandeminum Screamin Eagles Cannonball Balloon Race Ferris Wheel Go Karts Comet? Even with Comet and Demon that's a pretty subpar attractions list. And another issue is usually for these events parks like to block off areas of the park to save money on security, janitors and so on and the way the rides that can run are located it's pretty hard to do that without leaving Comet or Ghost Town out. #Post#: 1648-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: CodyatTGE Date: January 4, 2020, 3:19 pm --------------------------------------------------------- I still think it’s worth a shot. I know more parks have switched over to rides, but that doesn’t mean we have to. We’re already kinda the odd one out in the SF chain, so I don’t see why we should start now. I don’t think attendance and amount of things to do is going to be a problem. My concern in Upstate New York. Some years, December is relatively good (this year would’ve been really good for HiTP), but then some other years we start getting snow by Halloween. #Post#: 1657-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: Mrceagle Date: January 5, 2020, 10:06 pm --------------------------------------------------------- That's around 25 rides. SFNE is operating what 25-30. Sure there are more thrill rides but some of those are not fun to ride in cold weather. #Post#: 1670-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: CodyatTGE Date: January 6, 2020, 2:20 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Yes, I think we’ll be fine. They really should give it a shot and I think we’d be successful. Even if we can’t get more days tacked on to the end of the season, I’m not sure why we can’t open in April. #Post#: 1682-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: Mrceagle Date: January 6, 2020, 5:41 pm --------------------------------------------------------- While there are tourists in the area around Christmas so it adds to the argument there really aren't any in April. SFNE opens in early April and its a bit of a nightmare generally at opening the park is not ready and While its fund to be going back the park performers is sub-par. #Post#: 1684-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: CodyatTGE Date: January 6, 2020, 8:55 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Fair point. If SFNE is removing HiTP I don't think there's hope for us. #Post#: 1689-------------------------------------------------- Re: Holiday in the Park By: Mrceagle Date: January 6, 2020, 11:03 pm --------------------------------------------------------- That's still debatable. If they are taking it out chances are they will want to move what was purchased somewhere. ***************************************************** (DIR) Next Page
