The only thing even close to this in our lifetime is 911. The economic disruption of this, will make 911 economic problems look small. #Post#: 2159-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Mrceagle Date: March 15, 2020, 11:40 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Parks especially chains that rely on early year attendance will see a big impact on their bottom lines and will have to adjust. It's too early to predict how long this will last and how it will affect parks that generally do the bulk of their business I summer with little to no early season. I do agree SFI would be smart to dramatically scale back their additions. but moderately priced capital improvements should still be done. #Post#: 2293-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Pineracer Date: May 8, 2020, 10:39 am --------------------------------------------------------- Looks like Great Adventure, Doreny, and Cedar Point might not have a season, and Hershey will probably open as soon as Canymonium is approved or when Wolf approves, which ever is best. #Post#: 2327-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Pineracer Date: May 25, 2020, 9:45 am --------------------------------------------------------- Barber Shops and the like can't open til the Green Phase in PA, yet New Orleans is opening them not at 25% capacity. I feel that is the best comparison in terms of density even though it wasn't as hard hit as the North East or Seattle. #Post#: 2330-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Mrceagle Date: May 26, 2020, 2:25 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Density may be the same but how are numbers comparing. sadly the reopening course seems to be in some cases very politically and not scientifically driven. I think that if numbers are stable or dropping, capacity is limited and it's by appointment only salons and barbershops can open. You can do everything supposedly right and still get this. My grandfather was admitted to the hospital yesterday and tested positive. he lives in assisted living and I have had minimal interaction with him only dropping off a few store items to the staff and was no more than 2 arms lengths from him for less than a minute. #Post#: 2331-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Pineracer Date: May 26, 2020, 2:31 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Most cases in PA are from Nursing Homes and children #Post#: 2466-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Pineracer Date: July 28, 2020, 10:39 am --------------------------------------------------------- Apparently Cedar Fair owned more land on the other side of the road from SeaWorld/Wildwater Kingdom and looks like construction will begin on a housing development over there. Still nothing on park proper though. #Post#: 2475-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Mrceagle Date: July 29, 2020, 6:19 pm --------------------------------------------------------- interesting. I do think tat land will continue to be hard to sell. #Post#: 2492-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Pineracer Date: August 10, 2020, 10:44 am --------------------------------------------------------- According to the SEA earnings call, it looks like they want to aqquire smaller amusement parks and Water Parks to turn into Sesame Places, as well as manage hotels. Top locations: -Texas, there used to be one near Over Texas. However, I say Houston as they only have two (albeit seemingly awesome) boardwalk parks. -Ohio, maybe they could take back Geauge Lake or do something with the Columbus Zoo. -Acquire Parque Sesamo in Monterrey, I think this would be a good test to expand internationally (possibly Canada) -Acquire Schlitterbahn Kansas City, I think this is a big risk but I think PA for the North East; SoCal; Florida w/ SeaWorld Orlando; and TX for the South a mid-west option is a good one. -If things go Well: Washington State, Ontario, and another in the deep south might work. #Post#: 2499-------------------------------------------------- Re: The Never Ending Pointless Thread By: Mrceagle Date: August 10, 2020, 5:51 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Interesting news. I think it would be a good idea to buy other small parks to make more sesame places as long as they don't take over a park that is truly iconic that could backfire. I agree they should buy the Kansas City property. that property has enough room that outside fo the water park, which should first be rebranded, They could build both a sesame place and a Busch Gardens. I also like the idea of Rebuildingon the Guarga lake property. I think locals would love to see a park return but if they do this they should make a point to add in a small Geauga Lake inspired area on top of the sesame place. thing Seaworld Orland but instead of sea world you rebuild a properly sized GL park section. ***************************************************** (DIR) Previous Page (DIR) Next Page
